Kalani® is a distinguished designer brand established in 2014, based in Amsterdam and led by the visionary designer Reza Kalani. Renowned for his creative talent, Reza excels in design subjects, story and concept design, concept development, and art direction in both fashion and interior design. Kalani® is not just a fashion accessories brand; it embodies the essence of Reza Kalani’s journey, his innovative spirit, and his diverse design expertise.
Reza Kalani, a young Persian-Dutch designer, has an undying passion for art and fashion. Born in 1978, he began his design journey at the age of 9, using a sewing machine to create winter hats from leftover materials, launching his first brand label within his father's company, 'KALANI'. Despite earning a degree in mathematics and physics, his love for art and fashion persisted, leading him to focus on visual design, garments, scarves, bags, interior design, and diverse design subjects.
In 2001, Reza opened his first shop, quickly becoming a favorite among stylish Tehran fashionistas. Moving to the Netherlands in 2011, he felt an immediate connection to his new home, inspired by its neat, almost geometrical countryside, rich history, and vibrant art scene. From the beginning, Reza’s focus in the Netherlands has been on designing apparels, scarves, bags, and other accessories that defy the conventions of time.
Kalani® stands out for its ability to refashion visual art, drawing inspiration from Dutch art, architecture, and culture. Reza’s first collection in 2014-15 aimed to bring the timeless artworks of the Dutch Golden Age into the streets, making them part of daily life in a unique way. His collections feature striking geometrical designs and patterns that blend elements from the past with a vision for the future.
Reza Kalani has been involved in numerous projects, from lighting design to fashion photography and beyond, showcasing his versatility as a designer. Under his guidance, Kalani® has evolved into more than just a fashion brand. It is the parent company of A Talent House®, a nurturing community where diverse creative talents and designers come together, supporting and uplifting each other, growing as a family.

THE BRAND
Kalani Amsterdam is the product of a love story between a designer and his hometown, Amsterdam. Starting out in 2014 with designing the brand logo, Reza Kalani has been paying a tribute to all splendid aspects of the city ever since, from its art and culture to its architecture and lively spirit. In addition to that, every Kalani product embodies the various interpretations of the word Kalani, making it the perfect choice for a soul of substance.
THE MONOGRAM
The Kalani monogram is not a mere symbol; it is a delightful visual representation of all that Kalani Amsterdam stands for. The DNA of the monogram is the map of the city of Amsterdam constituting its four parts namely North, South, East, and West, a city that forms the core concept of the brand.
ART & CULTURE
Kalani derives its greatest inspiration from the stupendous art and bustling culture of the Dutch metropolis. Reza Kalani has effortlessly combined rich baroque details from beloved Dutch artworks such as those displayed at the Rijksmuseum with sleek geometrical patterns reminiscent of Dutch architecture and landscape to create products that are unique yet quintessentially Dutch.

The Iranian-Dutch fashion designer Reza Kalani designs silk scarves inspired by the paintings of Dutch masters. The combination of grometrical designs and influences from painters such as Vermeer and Van Rijn make his designs wearable works of art.

Kalani Amsterdam's mission is to enable young Kenyans to break out of the cycle of poverty and transform it into a cycle of success. Kenya is full of strong and creative individuals who are eager to contribute to the world but cannot live up to their full potential due to a lack of basic needs. Kisiwa endeavors to fulfill those needs in various ways through food, education, and counseling to enable the bright youth of Kenya to change the future of their country. Kalani Amsterdam supports Kisiwa by donating a certain amount of its sales to the charity to play its part in this noble and humane cause.
